Resin is a hard plastic. It is the preferred material for portrait doll artist. It has the look of porcelain but is more durable and picks up the tiny details of the original sculptures. The artist makes her own silicone molds of her original sculpts. These dolls are not sold anywhere else in the world. During the process the orginal sculpts are broken. Silicone cost $100.00 a gallon. It takes a gallon of silicone for evey pound of doll. The artist is a full time elementary art teacher and mother of 4. She pays other members of her church to help her with the sewing, etc. . These dolls are made in their free time. The artist prays for and with the moms of the real child models. Artist does not charge for her time. Portrait sculptors charge over $2,000.00 for a sculpt and have a 10 year waiting list. Many items are too small for young children who might put them in their mouth. These are not toys. Please be careful with your little ones! Not for children under 4 years of age. This is a part time home based business. Most of the work is done by the artist. |
